In 2023, Australia and New Zealand will jointly host the FIFA Women’s World CupTM. The tournament is the world’s premier sporting competition in women’s football and the 2023 edition will be a tournament of incredible firsts. The first to be co-hosted by two nations; from two confederations; in the Southern Hemisphere; featuring teams from 32 nations showcasing the best of women’s football on the world stage.

The FIFA Women’s World CupTM is recognised as the most important international competition in women’s football. This competition has been held every four years since the 1991 inaugural tournament held in China PR, then called the FIFA Women’s World Championship.

The FIFA Women’s World CupTM is now the biggest female sporting event in the world, with its most important recent edition in France 2019; breaking records with more than 1.12 billion broadcast viewers, sold out matches, and more than 1.1 million fans filling the stadiums.

The official trophy for this tournament is THE symbol of the highest achievement for women’s football. Originally hand-made for the 1999 tournament, the trophy incorporates elegance and dynamism, two key attributes of the sport. In 2023, the FIFA Women’s World CupTM is heading down under to Australia and New Zealand.
